Hails Man Utd latest sensation, Speedy Hernandez @ Fastest player in Premier League!

Deep in the heart of Houston's Reliant Stadium, Javier Hernandez emerged to an explosion of flashbulbs as the assembled media surged forward to get closer to the young Mexico striker.

The man they call Chicharito was not fazed.

He moved past the cameras and microphones, stopping every few yards to speak in Spanish and then disappeared with a turn of pace and air of confidence he had displayed half an hour earlier when scoring in his first game for Manchester United.

One of the statistics in South Africa showed that Hernandez was the fastest player in the tournament. Maybe they should have called him Runner Bean instead of Little Pea.

The boy from Guadalajara certainly did not hang around when Darren Fletcher lofted a ball into space in the 84th minute of United's 5-2 win over the MLS All-Stars.

Hernandez timed his run to perfection to stay onside.
He was level with the last man when Fletcher passed but was 30 yards clear when it landed. The 22-year-old showed not a hint of nerves, letting it bounce before lobbing Nick Rimando.

It remains to be seen how much Ferguson uses his new signing this season, but the United manager was left in no doubt that Hernandez's pace will prove to be a potent weapon in the Barclays Premier League in years to come.

Ferguson said: 'The one thing that defenders always worry about is players with speed, players who will get into the space behind them.

'His goal gave an indication of that speed. The timing of his run, coming towards the ball and then spinning, shows he's going to be a threat to defenders.
'How the combination with Wayne will work, I think we will need to adjust a little bit because I think they could be similar types of players.

'At the moment we will assess Hernandez and try to bring him to a consistent level of form. Once he gets used to our training I think he will be okay.'

Hernandez received the biggest cheer from the Hispanic fans in a crowd of 70,728 when he replaced Nani in the 63rd minute.

His next game will attract even more attention as United round off their tour against Chivas in Guadalajara, where he will play one half for each side.

He said: 'I'm living a dream, I feel good and I'm going to work hard.'

Sir Alex committed to build a legacy at Old Trafford that will LAST FOREVER after he step down

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his commitment to building a legacy at Manchester United that will last long after he has left Old Trafford.
As Fergie enters his 25th season in charge of United, the most successful manager in the history of British football admits he still has no idea himself when he will step down.

But when he does eventually retire, Fergie insisted he is determined to leave his successor a vibrant, thriving young set of players, unlike the situation he inherited back in 1986 when he had to completely rebuild an ageing, fragmented squad.
“What you have to do is maintain the success of the club and make sure that, no matter when I quit, the club is always in good hands,” said Fergie.

“I come back to the point of having young players, that there’s no need for a complete overhaul of the playing squad.
“The squad I’ve got at the moment, I’ve got probably 12 players all under 21, which is a fantastic average age and the future should be pretty secure with them.
“Whenever I do go, and I don’t see it being tomorrow, because if I have my health then I can carry on. But there will be a point obviously when I do quit, but I have absolutely no idea when that is.
“I tried that a few years ago and it was an absolute disaster - agony. My wife made me change my mind and she was dead right. I think she was soon fed up with me in the house.

“Now when the times comes I think the club should be okay.”
Fergie is desperate to avoid a repeat of the debacle that ensued when Matt Busby stepped down after 24 years at the United helm. After unparalleled success under Sir Matt, United were relegated within three years of his departure, an unthinkable scenario now, but Fergie wants to ensure there is no hint of decline when he quits.
With no intention of calling it a day, 68-year-old Fergie looks set to surpass Sir Matt Busby’s record 25-year reign at United, and repeated his mantra that he will carry on at Old Trafford as long as he is in good health.

And for a man who shows no signs of slowing down - Fergie has been using the gym regularly alongside his players during the club’s pre-season tour of the US - his rivals look to be stuck with him for several more years.
“A lot of factors come into it but the most important thing is that I’m at the right club,” said Fergie. “It’s a fantastic club which demands a challenge all the time. Every day of every year we have the challenge of being at the top. That helps me.

“The second thing that you need is good, natural energy, which I’ve been blessed with. I’m fortunate with that. The third thing is that I can keep going as long as my health keeps going, and the same applies to every person. I’m 68 and so far my health has been standing up. So these are important factors.

“I also have the opportunity of working with very good footballers, with good desire and a good purpose about themselves. We don’t build a footballer just in terms of ability, we try to build their character to make them better human beings and to understand their responsibilities.”

MLS All-Stars 2-5 Manchester United with pictures and videos

Sir Alex Ferguson started the night with Edwin van der Sar between the pipes, Rafael, Wes Brown, Jonny Evans and Fabio along the backline and a three-man midfield that included John O’Shea, Darren Fletcher and Ryan Giggs. Dimitar Berbatov was left off the starting squad in favor of a Frederico Macheda, with Nani and Gabriel Obertan providing support from the flanks.

It took Manchester United less than 30 seconds to open the scoring. Second-year defender Kevin Alston played a lazy ball back across his own box where Macheda pounced and slid it calmly past Ricketts to give the visitors a very early lead.

Sir Alex Ferguson has declared Kiko Macheda the best striker in one-on-one situations he's ever worked with.
The young Italian scored a double in United's 5-2 rout of the MLS Allstars in Houston last night.
Ferguson said: "We always think about Macheda that going through on the goalkeeper he is probably the best we have.
"He is outstanding in those positions. You always feel very confident. When he went through I expected him to score. It was a well-taken goal."

Tom Cleverley's strike was impressive - a cheeky flick over Wilman Conde and a cool finish that had Ferguson applauding.
"The confidence to do what he did, then the composure, it was an outstanding goal," said the United boss.

SAF was delighted with Javier Hernandez's goal scoring debut as well.
The 22-year-old stepped off the bench in the second half at the Reliant Stadium and was given a rousing reception by both United and Mexican fans.
"The one thing defenders worry about is players with speed, who get into the space behind them," Ferguson said of Hernandez.
"When you see his goal it is an indication of that speed. The timing of his run, coming towards the ball spinning, he is going to be a threat to defenders, no question."

The pro-Mexican fans in Houston were rowdy as Javier Hernandez made his first appearance for Manchester United, coming on in the 62nd minute to one of the loudest ovations all night.

Chicharito gave the crowd another moment to cheer as the young striker netted to make it 5-1 with just under 10 minutes left to play. It was a brilliant goal from the Mexican, who timed his run well to slip behind the defense and was poised enough to calmly chip the bouncing ball over the onrushing Rimando.

Here is the highlight for the match,

Chicharito trains for the first time with Man Utd squads and Sir Alex warns him not to score....against Man Utd of course

Javier Hernandez is confident of making a splash in England.
Hernandez, 22, insists he can make an impact even though his fellow countrymen Giovani Dos Santos and Carlos Vela have struggled to make the breakthrough in England with Tottenham and Arsenal respectively.
United's first Mexican player said: "I have spoken to them and they are definitely happy for me and they know that this is the most powerful league in the world.
"They tell me to take advantage of the situation and I should thank God for the opportunity.
"I always try to see pressure in a different way - more like motivation. There are millions of people in the world who would do anything to be in my position and have this opportunity.
"It's an honour because I want to achieve big things. It's a very nice challenge and hopefully I will be able to contribute.
"I will always try to enjoy it because sometimes we focus so much on the achievements and our dreams, and maybe we forget to enjoy it."
Hernandez admits he's still adjusting to being a Manchester United player.
Hernandez is pinching himself at the prospect of being on the same pitch as players he regards as legends like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.

"These are people I would watch on the television, that I would even play with them on PlayStation," he told Major League Soccer's Spanish website.
"I dreamed of one day being able to play with all of them and I'm going to try to learn from them the most I can.
"Besides wanting to do the best job I can, grow and learn plenty, I also want to add my little grain of sand because this is a team sport. I want to win a title. I want us to be a great team."
Sir Alex has 'warned' Javier Hernandez ahead of his glamour return to Chivas.
After the MLS All-Star Game, United end their tour against Chivas in Guadalajara, where Hernandez will play a half for each side.
Asked what happens if his new player scores against United, Ferguson said: "He'll be fined and transferred back!"
Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs admits he'd never heard of new teammate Javier Hernandez before Manchester United swooped for him.

Earlier this year, he set a Mexican league record with Guadalajara with eight goals in the first eight games of the season.
"I didn't know too much about him before the World Cup," said midfielder Giggs. "After we signed him, I took an interest. Just like the fans, players are excited when you sign new players. He scored two very good goals in the World Cup and as a forward player, I'm excited to play alongside him."

Mourinho speaks on his FRIENDSHIP with SAF and the same old statement from David Gill "we have the $$ to spend"..bla bla bla

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho says his friendship with Man Utd counterpart SAF is proof he's not all bad.
Mourinho left his job at Inter Milan having upset Lega authorities and the local media with his approach.
"There's a lot of talk about my character, criticizing, but I have many friends in the game," said Mourinho.
"Often I talk on the phone to Sir Alex Ferguson, we are good friends."
Manchester United chief David Gill says there's money available for new signings.
The likes of Germany playmaker Mesut Ozil, Holland midfielder Wesley Sneijder and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema have all been linked with a switch to Manchester, and Gill has reiterated that manager Ferguson has money to spend.
"The money is there if we believe there is a player who can improve what we believe is a very good squad," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"The team has been together for a number of years and done very well. In order to improve it a player has to be of a very high quality."
Gill would not be drawn on who the club are targeting as possible signings, but revealed United have been on the look-out for new faces.
"We are always looking at players," he told. "We are looking 365 days a year - it doesn't just start when the transfer window opens.
"We are looking at it. We studied a lot of players at the World Cup, but we knew about a lot of them before that.
"Over all I think Sir Alex is very comfortable with the squad composition. That's not to say something won't happen, but I think it is a 'might', not a 'will'.
"We will see what happens over the next six weeks."

Paul Scholes on Man City spending spree and next season title contenders

Paul Scholes has admitted Manchester United's players are worried by the prospect of their mega-rich neighbours City finishing above them in the Premier League.
City have never finished higher than United since the Premier League was formed and the last time they managed the feat was in the old First Division in 1991, when they ended the campaign in fifth spot, three points ahead and a place above of their local rivals.

But Scholes revealed the depth of concern at United over the new threat posed by City, now they have the financial clout to challenge for the title, by admitting there is a real fear they could finish higher than Sir Alex Ferguson's side this season.
"The last thing we want is City above us," said Scholes. "It's not happened since I've been here and we'll just have to see what happens there. They've bought so many players but whether they can gel together remains to be seen.
"It's great for the city to have two top teams, but I'd rather them be down in the Second Division, like they were ten years ago. There's always been big rivalry between us anyway, but even more so with the power they've now got."

City have spent £80million on new players this summer and are set to take that through the £100m barrier with the capture of Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli for £30m. City are also confident of landing Aston Villa and England midfielder James Milner for £24m before the start of the new season.
But while Scholes expects City's spending will ensure they are challenging near the top of the table, the 35-year-old also identified United's bitter rivals Liverpool as title contenders, despite their poor showing last season when they finished seventh.
"You have got to say Chelsea will be up there, but the rest you just don't know," said Scholes. "Liverpool could be, it just depends on how they start with a new manager. But you always have to be wary of Liverpool.

"The season before last they were really close to making a major challenge. Last season, for whatever reason, it didn't work out for them. But it's much the same group of players, with Joe Cole added to it as well. So I'm sure they will be a good team.
"Petr Cech and Didier Drogba will be a big miss for Chelsea at the start of the season. Cech has been a great keeper for them over past few seasons. But they have a couple of keepers capable of stepping in.
"It's at the start of the season as well, the first month, maybe they'll only miss three or four games. I don't think they'll miss them too much. Drogba should be back for second game of season.
"Last year we didn't win what we wanted to win but we weren't that far off. You don't want to use excuses, but the injuries we had were shocking. Hopefully most of us can stay fit this year and hopefully we can go one step further than last season."

Scholes, who like fellow veterans Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville is on a one-year contract, admitted he thought last season would be his final one with United. But having decided to play on for another year, he said he had made no plans about his future.
"It depends on performances and how you play," said Scholes. "I did go through last season thinking this might be the last time I played against this team or stuff like that. But I just don't know. My performances will decide when I finish.
"I thought at 35 that would be it. From being young and first getting into the squad I think you just presume everyone would finish at 35 and that's it. Whatever you do after that is a bonus. At the end of last season I felt okay and hopefully this season I will do as well."

CSKA Moscow GK, Igor Akinfeev would love to join Man Utd

CSKA Moscow goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, is a target for the Gunners and Man Utd after impressive Champions League displays last season.
Akinfeev said: “Arsenal and Man Utd are two of the very best clubs in the world.

“If both of them are going to be looking for keepers this summer – or even the next summer – then of course I am interested.
“They are a great club with a great manager. Of course there is every chance this will be the last season for Edwin van der Sar.
“To be the No.1 for Man Utd  would be a great honour too.
“They are the biggest football club in the world and, to be their No.1 for a length of time, you know you will have success.

Ronaldo should learn from Valencia in club loyalty..+ Man Utd is scouting for France young striker

Winger Antonio Valencia is ready to shun any move to Spain and commit himself to the Old Trafford cause for a decade.
The Ecuadorian, who has missed the pre-season tour with a hamstring problem, has previous experience in Spain with Villarreal.
Valencia said: "I want to stay for another 10 to 15 years at Man Utd, even if Barcelona or Real Madrid want me. That’s my wish."

Meanwhile, Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal were all represented at England's 1-1 draw with U19 Euro opponents France last night.
Chief among their targets was France striker Cedric Bakambu.
Bakambu, 18, is one of the hottest young properties in Europe and though he did not score, he had a fine match with a series of excellent touches and one superb break on goal.
He is currently tied to Sochaux.

Interview with Edwin van der Sar: Relying on rookies to prolong his career

To Edwin van der Sar, Fergie’s new fledglings might just as well be from another planet. But the old Dutch master is relying on them to both prolong his career and bring back the title to Old Trafford.
With many of Manchester United’s top stars missing - because of post-World Cup holidays and injuries - rookies like Danny Welbeck, Jonny Evans, Darron Gibson and Federico Macheda are grabbing the attention on their pre-season tour of North America.

But the veteran keeper, who turns 40 in October, confesses to being totally baffled by the new crop of youngsters.
Their musical tastes, lifestyles and general banter are alien to him.
He admitted: “I am the oldest player in the squad and some of the players are less than half my age, so that is a bit weird at times.
They talk about things I have never heard. They play different music - music I don’t recognise. But this is good because it helps me stay young. And they can hopefully help us get the title back from Chelsea.”

Van der Sar continues to defy the years with agility, athleticism and an undimmed appetite for the game.
But he is shocked he is still with the Reds after almost six years.
He revealed: “I arrived when I was 34 and I thought that I would be here for two years and then maybe do something else.
“I wanted to try to win the league title and end my career maybe with Ajax and then call it a day.
“But at the moment I’m still going.

“At a certain age you are happy that you can still do this great job. People have kept on asking me the same question for the last four years: when will I finish.
“Two years ago people were saying I’d soon be 40 and it was coming closer and closer, but I still feel good.
“I watch what I eat and drink, and training is good. I’m quite fortunate in not having that many long-term injuries like knee ligaments and that kind of thing.
“I’ve been lucky.

“Mentally, I still want to do it. I still want to be there. I still have the hunger and the appetite to stay at the top.”
Under Van der Sar’s stewardship, the United defence has been the most miserly in the top flight for the past three seasons – but he can’t go on forever. When he finally hangs up his gloves, like Peter Schmeichel before him, he will be a virtually-impossible act to follow.
He said: “At this stage of my career I’m not looking ahead. Sir Alex Ferguson is letting me make the decision on what I want to do.

“There is a dialogue between me and him and the club. I don’t want it to get ridiculous carrying on, but when the time comes I will know.
“And I will only tell one person first - the manager.
“I wouldn’t say there hasn’t been a strong deputy here.

“Both the keepers – Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak – played a number of games last season when I was out.
“But the others have to take their chances when they come in. Some have done - but some haven’t.”
