Valencia preparing major offer for Berbatov

Valencia are interested in Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Sofia Echo says Valencia are considering making a £14 million bid for last season's Premier League Golden Boot.

Berbatov has a year left on his current contract and appears to be on the outer at Old Trafford.

Valencia will have the cash to buy the Bulgarian should they sell Arsenal target Juan Mata in the coming weeks.

Ferguson convinced landing £20M Arsenal ace Nasri in days

Sir Alex Ferguson is convinced of prising Samir Nasri from Arsenal this week.

The Mirror says United are ready to make their move for Nasri with a view to sealing a deal before pre-season training begins next week.

Arsenal could find it hard to resist a £20million offer for a player in the final year of his contract at the Emirates.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already made it clear Nasri will not be allowed to run his contract down and leave on a free as midfielder Mathieu Flamini did three years ago.

Wenger has been trying to persuade Nasri that the club’s six-year spell without trophies will come to an end next season.

Nasri would provide a simple solution to United boss Sir Alex Ferguson’s search for a new midfielder.

Manchester United confirm signing of goalkeeper David de Gea from Atletico Madrid

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea on a five-year deal.

The Spaniard had long been linked with a move to Old Trafford following the retirement of Edwin van der Sar at the end of last season.

And De Gea has now spoken of his delight at finally completing his move to the club, admitting the interest from the Red Devils made him want to work even harder.

He told MUTV: “I feel very proud and I can’t wait to start playing here.

“When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you it obviously makes you very, very happy.
"I saw their interest as an extra motivation to work even harder to show off my ability.

"It’s a great privilege to be part of a club like United and I'm keen to do my best and show what I can do.”

The transfer fee has not yet been announced but it is expected to be in the region of £18 million, which would make De Gea the most expensive goalkeeper in English football.

The youngster has attracted the interest of United since making his breakthrough into the Atletico first team in 2009, and he has since gone on to play a big part in Spain’s success at the European Under-21 Championships, where he conceded just two goals.

Welcome to another stunning WAG in Edurne, girlfriend of De Gea

David De Gea arrived at Manchester United with a trophy on his arm — and we don't mean the European Under-21 Championship.

Get a load of his girlfriend Edurne, who will leave every WAG at Old Trafford desperate to raise their game next season.

At 25, the stunning Spanish pop star is five years older than Alex Ferguson's new £18.3million goalkeeper.

And while her music is far from critically acclaimed back home, her looks are enough to make her as big a star as the man who has to fill the void left by Edwin van der Sar's retirement.

As for the new-found fame the pair will attract, De Gea is trying to keep his feet on the ground. He said: "I don't think it will be a problem - Edurne will keep singing ballads and I will keep stopping balls.

"Everyone else can say or do what they like."

Those words show the deep and serious character of the young Spaniard, who had a medical in Manchester on Monday as part of his switch from Atletico Madrid. Indeed United's new golden couple are like chalk and cheese.

De Gea is not even a fan of pop music like his missus sings. Heavy metal is his thing... although he does have a touch of the old romantic in him as he lists Titanic as his favourite film.
While Edurne is outgoing and showy — De Gea is very grounded.

Success of Man Utd signing Young leaves his ex-Watford coach in tears

Ashley Young has had one of his former coaches in tears over the success he's enjoyed since almost being rejected by Watford.
The Hornets were ready to let the 16-year-old hopeful go because they reckoned he did not have the build for the rough and tumble of football.
But youth development officer Chris Cummins persuaded the club's hierarchy to keep faith with the lad.
He told The Sun: "Ashley came to Watford as a lad of eight and worked his way through the system.
"His attitude was first class. He never missed a training session and from a very early age you could see how bright he was as a footballer.
"When he got to 16 there was a school of thought at Watford that he wasn't strong enough.
"As a result he wasn't offered a scholarship but he stayed on as a non-contract boy, training twice a week at night after school. I really felt there was something there.
"He listened, took the knocks and proved people wrong. He has proved his character and his ability and I couldn't be more pleased for him."
Cummins, who has an England shirt signed by Young, said: "As a youth coach you always want to produce your first million-pound player.
"I admit I've shed the odd tear when I see how well Ashley's done for himself and his family.
"Ashley's kept his feet on the ground but I still have to buy the coffee when we meet up before England games at their hotel. He's still a bit tight!"

"I am excited. It's surreal but I'm delighted to be here and I just want to get on with the job.
"As soon as I got the call I wanted to get things sorted, get the papers signed and get back into training.
"I remember when I got my first England call I thought it was a wind-up.
"I knew this one wasn't. But there's a lot of banter in the game. You can tell from the expression on my face I'm excited but I just want to get my head down now and get on with it."
