Everton were surprised Manchester United didn't try again for Jack Rodwell this summer.
The Daily Star Sunday says there is surprise within Goodison Park that England Under-21s midfielder Rodwell wasn’t snapped up, as the Toffees were in talks to sell him to Manchester United just a year ago.
Everton claim they turned down almost £20m from United last summer.
And even though the asking price dropped in the last transfer window to £15m, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson did not return with a new bid.
