Manchester United have made contact about Sao Paulo's Lucas - agent

The agent of Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura has revealed that he has been contacted by representatives of Manchester United.

The 19-year-old wonderkid burst onto the scene for his club in the 2010 Brasileirao and has been a fixture in the first team ever since, establishing himself, along with Leandro Damiao, Neymar and Ganso, as the most exciting members of the new Brazilian generation. Still four months short of his 20th birthday, Lucas has already made 87 appearances for the Tricolor, netting 23 times.

This form, which has also seen him force his way into Mano Menezes' Selecao plans, has not gone unnoticed across the Atlantic Ocean. According to agent Wagner Ribeiro, three of Europe's most prestigious clubs will be trying to take him away from Sao Paulo when the transfer window reopens.

"Lucas already has what it takes for Europe, and the clubs know that. He is strong, quick and can shoot well. I have already been contacted by Inter, Chelsea and Manchester United," Ribeiro revealed to Globoesporte on Wednesday, also pointing out that it would not be easy to take his client from Brazil.

"Lucas' exit to Europe is not up to me. They will have to negotiate with Sao Paulo and the player. What matters most is what they want, and they have already said that right now there are no negotiations. The player does not want to leave, and the club does not want to sell."

Any team coming in for the talented teenager would have to break the bank. Lucas' buy-out clause with Sao Paulo is a staggering €80 million (£66.1m), and it is believed that the Tricolor would not consider any bid less than €35m (£29m).
