Anders Lindegaard has suffered the embarrassment of having his flash Jaguar towed.

The Daily Mail says his Jaguar car was towed outside an Italian eaterie in Manchester.

Lindegaard was unexpectedly interrupted by a fan who alerted the keeper to the drama outside the Cicchetti restaurant.

Lindegaard failed to stop his luxury motor - which is believed to have been illegally parked - from being impounded as the tow truck made a getaway.

Ferguson admits Lindegaard injury ends Amos loan hopes

 Sir Alex Ferguson admits Anders Lindegaard's injury rules out a loan exit for Ben Amos.

Amos will now be required as back-up to De Gea until the middle of March, a period that includes a last-32 Europa League encounter with Ajax and also tough domestic fixtures against Liverpool and Tottenham, in addition to the Chelsea trip.

It rules out any possibility of Amos leaving on loan and gaining further experience in addition to the half season he spent at Oldham last term.

"Ben Amos has been looking for his opportunity for quite a while and we wondered about sending him out of loan," Ferguson said.

"But it's not easy to let one of your goalkeepers go when you're in Europe. You need three keepers and that's proving its point now."

Anders Lindegaard has been tipped to show why he can become Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper in the red-hot atmosphere of his club’s FA Cup tie at arch-rivals Liverpool on Saturday.

The Danish international has overtaken David De Gea in the United pecking order in recent games and his former goalkeeping coach at Norwegian club Aalesund, Frank Mathiesen, believes his protégé has what it takes to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s last line of defence on a permanent basis.

“I think Anders can go on to establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper,” Mathiesen said.

“Before this season the odds on that happening were not very good for Anders but the odds are a lot better now. Plus I do not think you have seen the best of Anders Lindegaard yet. 

"He is not the youngest of goalkeeper but he has still many years to go and he has not reached his top level yet. There is more to come from him. 

“He will become more confident as he plays in these big matches so the future is looking good for him. History shows you that he adapts to the level he is going into and with his professionalism and strong mentality he could go on to do a lot better than he is doing right now.”

Mathiesen says he saw enough of Lindegaard during his two spells in Norway to be convinced that he can sustain the progress that earned him a £3.5m move to Old Trafford a year ago.

“Anders is a modern goalkeeper and he adapts quickly to the level that he is playing in because he reads the game very well,” Mathiesen added. 

“I was asked if he had a chance at United when he first signed and I sincerely said I thought he could adapt to life in the Premier League because his ability to adapt is one of his main strengths.

“He progressed very quickly with us, taking step after step after step, and then in a second spell with us moving faster and faster and faster. He ended up being our best player.

“When he first arrived he was brilliant in training and was a real perfectionist which was the ultimate sign of a true professional and that made us think he could be something special - and that is the way it is turning out. 

“He was not satisfied until he had got everything right. The other goalkeepers learned a lot from him as well about professionalism. He was a real character in the dressing room and showed himself to be a very sociable person who was very popular."

Mathiesen continued: “Before his first game we warned him that Norwegian football was kick-and-rush, was about set-pieces, and that the game would go back and forward at high speed.

“[But] when his first game arrived he didn’t perform well and really struggled in the air and in the box because people were coming from everywhere and he was yelling at everyone else, including the referee.

“Afterwards I told him he would have to adapt - and from that moment he adapted. 

"It was a case of ‘okay this is Norwegian football and I have to deal with it’ and he never looked back. He got to know Norwegian football pretty fast. That’s why he performed so well.”

The 27-year-old Lindegaard, who joined Aalesund from Danish side Odense, has played in United’s last five games after De Gea was dropped for a poor performance in a 3-2 defeat by Blackburn Rovers.  

And Mathiesen has continued to monitor his former charge's progress, saying: “It is interesting to follow him and I watch United games as much as possible on television. From what I gather he is doing better and better and better. 

“He has performed well and I can see that he is adapting to Premier League levels all the time.”

And with a feisty FA Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool on Saturday, Mathiesen is confident he will deal with the pressure at Anfield.

“Given how he coped with United’s games at Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City in recent weeks I don’t think he will have problems coping with the intensity of Anfield,” Mathiesen said. 

“He has now played in several massive matches and ended up on the winning sides at Arsenal and Manchester City. He just seems to be taking everything in his stride."

Denmark coach Olsen: Being at Man Utd not enough for Lindegaard

Denmark coach Morten Olsen has warned Anders Lindegaard being at Manchester United won't be enough to be his No1.

Lindegaard has impressed when called upon at United, but is still not a regular.

"It goes without saying that a goalkeeper who is in a big club which has the money to get the best players in the world is guaranteed to have a high level," said Olsen.

"But everything depends on the performance on the pitch. It is not enough just to be part of a big club, perhaps better to be always playing at another club."

Lindegaard turns up heat on De Gea with cheeky tweet

Anders Lindegaard is turning up the pressure on David De Gea.

Lindegaard has underlined the growing threat he poses to De Gea at Manchester United with a tweet boasting about his record of six clean sheets in seven games this season.

Within two hours of the final whistle against Wigan, Lindegaard issued a public reminder of his impressive form as De Gea’s understudy by tweeting: “Calmfidence – 6!” The word is an amalgamation of ‘calmness’ and ‘confidence’ while the number refers to Lindegaard’s clean-sheet record.

Lindegaard tribute to coach Steele for rapid improvement

Anders Lindegaard says his game is rapidly improving working with coach Eric Steele.

Keeper coach Steele was a big influence in bringing the Dane to Old Trafford last January from Aalesund.

“This is everything I have dreamt of. If I could have seen this scenario one year ago that I am in now I would have been absolutely delighted,” Lindegaard told the Manchester Evening News.

“I have learned a lot. Eric Steele has taught me everything. He has torn me apart and built me up again. I owe him a lot for the goalkeeper I am today. It has been a long journey and it has been amazing.

“I remember when I first arrived he said to me, ‘Everything you have been taught before you have to forget it because it is wrong and what I say is the truth’.

“And he pretty much did rebuild my game. He taught me from the beginning again. I was happy to do that. I was 26 and thrilled to sign for Manchester United and I would do anything to make my dream come true. I have done as much as I could to live up to what people wanted of me.

“It is the technical aspects of the game that Steely changed and said you just cannot use here in England.

“There are many things he has changed but one for example is that in Denmark when you catch the ball you learn to pull the ball into your chest for safety. I had been taught that from being a kid.

“Now I can see that is a part of the goalkeeping game that is ancient. You cannot use it anymore. If you draw the ball in you lose a split second when you lose the quickness of your distribution.

“Being a Manchester United goalkeeper it is very important that your distribution skills are good and quick. I know that if I hadn’t had good distribution skills I would never have been a part of this club. But becoming quicker has been vital for the way we play.

“If the progress keeps going like it has been I will be very satisfied this time in another 12 months’ time. What do I hope will be the situation then? It is a dynamic process and I have my goals but it is not for me to put them out in the press. I will keep them to myself.”

Sir Alex Ferguson happy to continue rotating goalkeepers De Gea and Lindegaard

 Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he has no selection headache when it comes to his goalkeepers.

The Scot has alternated between summer signing David de Gea and Danish international Anders Lindegaard throughout the season, with the latter being picked for Wednesday's 5-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

De Gea, who joined from Atletico Madrid, has also started to turn in some impressive performances despite a shaky start to life in the Premier League.

The Spaniard has six clean sheets and Lindegaard five, with the latter only conceding once in his six matches this season - during the 1-1 draw against Benfica.

And the experienced Scot is happy to give both shot stoppers a chance given their current run of good form.

Speaking to MUTV, Ferguson said: "It’s not a problem because I think Anders has that little bit more experience. I felt his was the right time to change and we’re going to do that with David.

"He’s only 20 years of age and is going to be a fantastic goalkeeper, there’s absolutely no doubt about that.

"Having Anders as a back-up in terms of giving the lad a break at the right time, is proving its worth. Anders is an outstanding goalkeeper and has a little bit more experience."

Lindegaard: Benfica saves show I am already improving

Anders Lindegaard says he knows he's improved since joining the club from Aalesund in January.

The Dane impressed in this week's 1-1 draw at Benfica.

"It was a fantastic experience, like a childhood dream coming true," he said. "The reflex save I made in the second half I would never have made while in Norway or Denmark. It just goes to show how much I am improving since coming to United. Alex Ferguson has helped me a lot. He said to me: 'Play the game, not the occasion' and it was exactly my approach to this game.

"There's only room for one goalkeeper in the team. We have a very good competition. We have two top goalkeepers and we have Ben Amos as well, who is a very promising young man. That's how it is in all positions at United and that's how it should be.

"I'm never going to complain about competition - it's tough. But I accept the manager's choice every time. He has proven he is the best manager in the world and I will always respect and accept his decisions.

"You can see so far I have not had many opportunities to show who I am, but this was one of them and it was a big game. It shows a bit about how good the competition is, it is not as clear as it was last year - who is first and who is second."

Schmeichel: Man Utd in good hands with De Gea and Lindegaard

Peter Schmeichel feels they're in good hands with their two new goalkeepers.

David De Gea is expected to start ahead of Anders Lindegaard as United's No1.

“I know Anders Lindegaard from watching him for Denmark and he’s played really well,” Schmeichel told the Manchester Evening News. “But this is Old Trafford. It is different playing for a Norwegian club, or even Denmark, than playing for United.

“The same goes for David de Gea – even if he has played for a club with a lot of pressure like Atletico Madrid.

“I watched him for them and he played very well. And every time I’ve seen him I’ve been very impressed.

“I was also very impressed with his performances in Denmark for Spain in the Under-21 European Championships this summer. But again – this is Old Trafford.”

Schmeichel believes that United have solved their goalkeeping situation for years to come.

“It’s interesting,” said the Great Dane. “We now have two goalkeepers – one who is very young and another who is relatively young.

“Whoever gets the shirt can stay on for a very long time.

“It is important that whoever starts the season – they need to have a good beginning.

“Whoever it is has to do that, but both of them have the talent to stay on for a long time,” Schmeichel added.

Lindegaard: Fergie told me he will fine me if I play well against Scotland

Anders Lindegaard can expect a fine if he plays well tomorrow night.

The 27-year old gloveman is getting set to take on Scotland in an international friendly with Denmark at Hampden Park on Wednesday but he has been warned by club boss Sir Alex Ferguson that he will receive a fine if he makes any saves.

"The boss took me aside on Sunday and said something about how he would fine me if I made any good saves against Scotland,” Lindegaard said.

"He said it with a smile and a laugh. He just had a friendly pat on my shoulder.

"I'm hoping he wasn't serious!”

But Lindegaard made it clear that he is a big fan of the Scottish tactician and is keen to become a top player under his tutelage.

"It's a huge privilege to play under him. He's been at United for as long as I remember, before my first memory,” he added.

"He's a true legend. Of course he's a world-class manager who makes all his players better. I've become a better player under him.

"I hope to play a part at Hampden. You always hope to play a part and not sit on the bench."

Lindegaard wants to make life difficult for Man Utd boss Ferguson

Anders Lindegaard says he is determined to become the new number one at Old Trafford.

The 27-year old was understudy to the great Edwin van der Sar after arriving from Aalesund in January but now sees himself starting with the gloves despite the arrival of the highly-rated David de Gea from Atletico Madrid.

Lindegaard says he wants to make manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s matchday decisions very hard as he continues to prepare for his full season with the Red Devils.

"It's not about making the choice difficult for Sir Alex. For me, it's about being number one. That is what it's all about - playing. I enjoy competing and, so far, I feel very good,” he said.

"There is big competition in all the spots but, so far, I'm very satisfied with my own performances.

"I think I've played very well so I believe in my chance. If I didn't believe in my chance, how could I expect other people to?

"I'm not scared at all. I am very proud of representing Manchester United. It's the biggest dream in my career come true."

Lindegaard can see thinking behind Manchester United keeper recruiting

Anders Lindegaard can see the thinking behind his signing by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Like David de Gea, Lindegaard believes he fits the identikit Ferguson was looking for as Van der Sar's replacement, he is not willing to concede he will just be a bit-part player.

"In terms of goalkeepers you can definitely see the red line in what the club is doing," he said.

"You can see the type of goalkeeper the club wants. They are aiming for the same kind of goalkeeper as Edwin van der Sar. Good with your feet, tall, agile.

"That is how De Gea is. That is how I play myself."

Lindegaard wants number one Man Utd spot this summer

Andres Lindegaard says he is eyeing the number one goalkeeping spot at Man Utd this summer.

The 27-year old Dane is set to swoop on the vacancy made by the retirement of Edwin van der Sar and is keen to push past fellow reserves Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Amos when the club travels to the USA for their pre-season tour.

“In the USA, it’s going to be especially important for the goalkeepers to play well because Edwin’s retired and the rest of us are fighting for that jersey,” he told theManchester Evening News.

“I know it’s going to be a lot of hard work but I’m looking forward to it very much.”

And Lindegaard added that the pre-season trip is a great chance to really integrate into the environment of playing for such a big club.

“I’ve been to Florida twice for training camps with other sides but we didn’t play many games in America – certainly not big ones in sell-out stadiums. That’s going to be a great experience,” he added.

“Also, I know we’ll do a lot of promotional work in America as well and we’ll get to meet the fans. That’s only natural because we’re the biggest club in the world and America is a huge market.

“I’m enjoying my time in Manchester very much – more and more with each day that passes, actually. I’m a happy human being at the moment and that’s what life is all about.”

Lindegaard still trying to settle at Man Utd

Anders Lindegaard admits he's still bedding down at Old Trafford.

Lindegaard admits he does not yet feel part of the team, although a place on the bench on Saturday would certainly help the process, but he is keen to work hard to prove his worth.

"I am still aware that it hasn't been my championship we have just won and I haven't been a big part of the Champions League yet," he said.

"But it is a very nice thing to be a part of the team and to see United doing well.

"It is about trying to suck experience out of everything I see."

Lindegaard: Man Utd coaches told me I was too fat!

Anders Lindegaard admits Manchester United coaching staff ordered him to lose weight upon his arrival.

The Danish goalkeeper joined United in December from Aalesunds.

Lindegaard told Tipsbladet: "The first thing that happened when I came is that I was put on a diet.

"In short, they told me I was too fat. I have been instructed when to eat and that it is only proteins, carbs and vegetables from now on.

"There are rules that need to be followed, or, as the manager (Sir Alex) says, 'it is worth it (the dieting regime) when your career is over and you are standing there with a lot of medals hanging around your neck'."

Lindegaard: I am still getting lost at Carrington!

Anders Lindegaard admits he's still getting used to his new club.

The Dane made his home debut in their FA Cup victory over Crawley Town.

"I feel more like a Manchester United player now but I am still making my way around and sometimes I get lost at Carrington," he laughed, emphasising the sheer scale of the Red Devils' training complex.

"I would like another FA Cup tie or two. We are close to Wembley now which is nice and when you get a little experience of playing for this club, it gives you a taste for more."

Lindegaard not bothered by Schmeichel criticism.

Anders Lindegaard has shrugged off being wrote off by club legend Peter Schmeichel.

Lindegaard says he has not lost any sleep over the supposed slight from his former hero Schmeichel.

“Peter Schmeichel was the hero of my life,” he said. “I was Peter Schmeichel when I was playing in my parents’ garden. I was always imagining that I was Peter at Old Trafford

“His words didn’t hurt me. It is sad he doesn’t have the same admiration for me that I have for him.

“He is the biggest goalkeeping legend in this club along with Edwin and, of course, you would always want people to believe you are very good and very talented and I am sure he did say I was talented.

“It is a very big motivation for me. If someone says you are not good enough and are not going to make it, then you are able to surprise people and prove them wrong.

“Hopefully, Peter will eventually be proud that another Dane has made his way in the world’s biggest club. However, only time will tell.”
