 Rio Ferdinand is in line to be awarded a testimonial.

The Daily Star says Ferdinand is in line to be awarded a ­testimonial match by Manchester United.

The central defender, 33 tomorrow, will reach ten years as a United player next summer.

And former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, sold to Real Madrid for a ­world-record fee of £80million two years ago, is set to return to Old Trafford to feature in Ferdinand’s big game.

Ferdinand joined United from Leeds for £29.1million – a move that broke the British transfer record.
