Manchester United step up bid to lure Isaac Cuenca away from Barcelona

Manchester United reportedly sent scout Martin Ferguson to watch Barcelona youngster Isaac Cuenca in Wednesday night’s Copa del Rey clash against Osasuna.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s brother was present as Cuenca played 75 minutes in the Catalans' 4-0 win in the first leg of their last-16 clash at Camp Nou, according to Sport.

Cuenca is considered one of Barca's most exciting young talents but he is out of contract in the summer and talks over a new deal having now been dragging on for months.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly keen on signing the Spanish Under-21 international but it seems that United are now ready to step up their interest in the player.

However, despite the intense competition for places at Camp Nou and the fact that Barca are unlikely to match the money on offer from the English clubs, Cuenca has stated that he is desperate to commit to the world, European and Spanish champions.

The player has made just five appearances in the Primera Division to date, but already has two goals to his name.
