Ferguson kicked off Man Utd career on modest £60,000 salary

Sir Alex Ferguson's first wage packet at Manchester United was nothing like he earns today.

Ferguson is the highest paid manager in the Premier League, though could soon be matched by Manchester City rival Roberto Mancini.

But when he took over from Ron Atkinson in 1986, Fergie agreed a salary of £60,000, says the Daily Mail.
